The Jim Thorpe Club supports this avenue of service in a variety of ways.

Student Rotarians.  Each month during the school year, student leaders selected by their faculties from Jim Thorpe Area High School and Carbon Career and Technical Institute are invited to discover the Rotary experinece and meet current civic leaders. Visits to Rotary meetings currently on hold.

Essay Contest.  Open to high school juniors and seniors.  This is an opportunity to write an essay of 400 to 600 words with a theme in keeping with the current Rotary International theme.  The local winner will receive a cash award and their essay will be forwarded to the district for further competition and increased cash awards.

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.  Our club provides sponsorship for up to five rising juniors from JTAHS and CCTI to attend a week-long, district-run summer gathering at an area college to gain leadership experience.

Scholarships.  We sponsor four $500 scholarships for exemplary graduates of JTAHS, CCTI and Marian Catholic High School. Criteria include academic achievement and school involvement, but the most important attribute would be a demonstration of "Service Above Self" in the community.

Other projects and programs that we support financially include the Jim Thorpe Youth Soccer Club, the Environmental Education Center, the Jim Thorpe Police Department, Fairview, and Sportsmen's Fishing Contests, JTAHS Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) conference, and the Old Timers Softball Game.
